Sexual Health Case 3 - Mitch

Part three in this series from the RACP, Chapter of Sexual Health focusses on sexual history taking, STI testing and pre and post-test discussion specifically for men who have sex with men.

Chlamydia is disturbingly common in the Australian population and appropriate sexual history taking and contact tracing are important skills to employ in an attempt to lesson the prevalence and impact of this disease.

Objectives

  • Be familiar with the routine testing appropriate for men who have sex with men
  • Discuss how to undertake pre-HIV test counselling and recognise the significance of post-test counselling and community where HIV prevalence is higher
  • Recall the risks for men who have sex with men
  • Describe a system you have in place for contact tracing
  • Be able to talk comfortably about central issues with men who have sex with men
