Sexual Health Case 1 - Sexual history taking

Chlamydia is disturbingly common in the Australian population and appropriate sexual history taking and contact tracing are important skills to employ in an attempt to lesson the prevalence and impact of this disease.

The learning objectives for this module are:

  • take a sexual history eliciting the relevant risk factors and behaviours.
  • determine whom to test, for which sexually transmissible infection, depending on that history.
  • determine when to test for specific sexually transmissible infections in relation to the most recent risk and the incubation period of the infection.
  • discuss the relevant tests available in Australia for the most common sexually transmissible infections.
